DANIEL R. WATKINS graduated from the University of Arizona in 1989 with a Bachelor's of Science in Education. From there, Mr. Watkins attended the University of San Diego School of Law graduating 1992. Mr. Watkins began his legal career defending dentists and doctors in malpractice cases in all fields of dentistry, and medical malpractice cases involving a wide range of medical disciplines. Mr. Watkins also defended general liability and automotive liability claims. Mr. Watkins currently handles medical and dental malpractice actions, complex property subrogation claims, employment liability claims, business transaction and litigation, and complex toxic tort claims. Mr. Watkins also donates 5-10% of his time each year to individuals and worthy organizations in need of Pro Bono services. Mr. Watkins Pro Bono work is focused on public interest issues involving Civil Rights. Mr. Watkins currently provides seminars on risk management principles for various types of businesses and professional services companies. Mr. Watkins served 14 years in the US Army Reserve and California Army National Guard as both a non-commissioned and commissioned officer. Mr. Watkins last served as a Captain commanding G Troop / 18th Cavalry Regiment, a Brigade Reconnaissance Troop based out of San Diego, California. Over the years, Mr. Watkins has defended cases for The Dentists Insurance Company, The Hartford, Safeco Insurance Company, CNA Insurance Companies, Concord General Insurance Company, Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, General Star Indemnity Company and Farmers Insurance Group. Away from the practice of Law, Mr. Watkins enjoys coaching Little League and soccer teams, playing golf and soccer, camping, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Mr. Watkins is a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals, Orange County Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, and Defense Research Institute.

This presentation will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge of what to look for in project specifications and contracts so that you can become aware of risks, establish a plan on how to avert and deal with the risks, and complete the contract in a manner so that you are at minimum risk for future claims. Evaluate the customer's focus and expectations of the project, implement methods to meet their expectations, and document their satisfaction.
