The co-founder and chief executive officer of Digital Sandbox, Inc., Ware is charged with ensuring that his company remains a leading provider of information products and software tools for large organizations contending with significant exposure to terrorism and catastrophic risk. He is currently a strategic advisor on homeland security and intelligence matters, providing invaluable consultation to executives in the Department of Homeland Security, and FEMA, as well as throughout the intelligence community, law enforcement agencies, and private industry. Ware has more than 15 years experience developing advanced analytical products for the national security community. His solutions include: • Targeting algorithms for the first generation of unmanned aerial vehicles, • An early GIS-based natural disaster response system for the Director of Military Support in the Pentagon; • The first Web-based medical response system for WMD events used by the U.S. Army Surgeon General, • The premiere terrorism-response training curriculum for first responders as mandated by the U.S. Domestic Preparedness Program. Ware is also credited with designing Site Profiler, the breakthrough risk management system Digital Sandbox has implemented for homeland security organizations across the U.S. and abroad. He has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Optics from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Public and private organizations are rapidly deploying physical software to increase asset protection, and improve safety and security. By coupling these efforts with their traditional IT security information management (SIM) solutions, they have the potential to become a significant new security asset for broad-based pro-active threat detection and response. Rather than looking at the problem as either a security or technology issue, some leading organizations are doing top down risk assessments to set priorities and identify areas where teaming between the traditional physical and IT security groups can lower overall costs while increasing protection and safety. But how can these organizations optimize the implementation of these systems to reduce risk and enhance overall security management? How are risks identified and prioritized so the most critical are addressed first? And how can costs be reduced and existing security devices leveraged? This discussion featuring industry experts will focus on strategic risk management, including the "where, what and how" for organizations.
