Speaker Bio

Tom Patterson is the chief security officer of MagTek, a global leader in secure electronic payment technology. Orange County-based Patterson is primarily responsible for utilizing his extensive experience in the security industry to oversee the development of MagTek's new generation of efficient electronic payment products for financial institutions, retailers, hotels, law enforcement agencies and other organizations.

Previously, Tom Patterson served as the founder and chief executive officer of Command Information, the largest and fastest growing pure-play IPv6 solutions company in America. In this capacity, Tom founded the IPv6 Business Council for the IETF, and published a critically acclaimed book Mapping Security on information security, privacy and governance around the world.

Tom has been the partner in charge of security operations for Deloitte in Europe, the Middle East and Africa; the managing director of KPMG/BearingPoint's global managed services business; and IBM's chief strategist for electronic commerce. He has served as a board member for several public companies, has advised all three branches of the U.S. Government on Internet and security policy, and is a trusted advisor to company executives across the globe.

Tom received his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland and is a Distinguished Visitor at Universidad de Marquen in Guatemala. Tom has lived and worked around the world and now resides with his wife and son in Huntington Beach, Calif.
